Description of CDCEF Endowment Funds.....

General Fund:

This fund is the largest of the funds, as all unspecified donations are added to this investment. All income from this fund goes to support the Tuition Assistance Fund of Chatham Christian Schools. This fund serves the main purpose of the foundation, namely, helping families afford the tuition costs when they desire a Christ-centred education for their children. The administration of these funds is facilitated by TAF committee of the school.

Scholarship Fund:

The Scholarship Fund was established by Marion and Andy Bruinsma. They wished to create a fund that would support the Community Scholarship Fund of Chatham Christian Schools. Each June, during the High School commencement program, scholarships are awarded to qualifying students who go on to post-secondary education. Students have benefited from their generosity for many years already.

Directors Fund:

This fund is supported by the Board of Directors of CDCEF. It is a symbolic gesture to indicate the commitment of the directors to support the goals the foundation seeks to promote to the supporting community of Chatham Christian Schools.

Named Funds:

The premise of these funds is to allow those who wish to leave a legacy in their name or in the memory of a loved one. With a minuimum donation of $5,000.00, these Named funds can be added to at anytime, and can be designated for a certain project or School budget item. These designations would be made in cooperaton with the school.

Currently there are three such Named Funds........

  • Elsey Sneep Memorial Fund:

The children of the late Mrs. Elsey Sneep established this fund to honor their mother after her passing at the age of 85. Mrs. Sneep volunteered in the library of the High School at the Park Ave. location, and continued this task after the High School combined facilities with the Elementary School at the current location for a total of 23 years. She passed away the same year she retired, in 2002. The family requested that income from this fund would support High School students who participated in mission projects, something that was also dear to the heart of Mrs. Sneep.

  • Vandersluis Family Fund:

Ray and Theresa Vandersluis established this fund to support the Tuition Assistance Fund. Ray and Theresa have been involved with Chatham Christian Schools virtually since it began. They both graduated from the Elemtary School and their 5 children have graduated from the High School. They have served on the board and also various committees over the years. Since they consider Christian education important, and by extension, important to all children, helping to alleviate the financial burden of needy families was appealing to them.

  • Ronald J. Janssens Memorial Library Fund:

This fund was established to honor the memory of the son of Jake and Margeret Janssens. Ronald Janssens died in 1962, a few months before his second birthday. As long time supporters of Chatham Christian Schools, it was the desire of the Janssens to leave a legacy that would benefit the students of the school in a direct way, and would be a reminder to others that God is the Author of our days, and we need to use those days to honour Him. The income from this fund is used to supply books for the school's library, which is an integral part of teaching.
